Zalora

The buzz: Zalora have launched an interactive pop-up shop at ION Orchard, featuring a curated range of fashion from their online store. You can browse and select items (with tablets placed throughout the store offering styling tips) and then use self-serve checkout counters to process payment. Instead of walking out with bags of clothes, your items are then delivered to your door (much like an online Zalora experience—except you actually get to try on the clothes first this time).

The vibe: Like any regular boutique, the Zalora store has white-washed walls and rows of neatly-hung, colorful clothes for men and women. There are four themed zones: Summer, Work, Street and Party, plus a dedicated Men’s zone. Customers can browse, touch and try on clothes, which is an added bonus if you’re one of those people who always seem to order the wrong size online.

The goods: We couldn’t help but be impressed with the range; brands represented include River Island, Lola Skye, Mango and Burton Menswear, with collections changing weekly. The new in-house Zalora label is available here, too. Prices are low, with many items going for under $100, on par with what you’d find on their site.

Why you’ll be back: Being able to try out items but still have them delivered to your doorstep is awesome—we love not having to lug shopping bags around all day. Given the crowds we encountered, you’d better be willing to jostle past other shoppers to get to the best stuff, but hurry as the pop-up closes at the end of Jan 2015.
