Kipling, known for its handbags, backpacks, totes, luggage and other accessories, presents the Kipling x Minju Kim collection in collaboration with the Seoul-born fashion designer.
The collection combines the Belgian brand’s functional and practical ethos with the designer’s youthful and playful aesthetic.
Available worldwide from April 27, the range is inspired by the movie Edward Scissorhands and boasts Kim’s Fall-Winter 2021 print. On her inspiration, she shared that the scene where Edward went to school, played with paper and made a garland inspired her to make her own. “The print on the bags is cut from paper, which I transformed into a print,” she said.
The bold, two-toned prints she combines on the bags give the range a colourful, bright and optimistic feeling, aligning perfectly with Kipling’s “Live Light” motto. The Belgian brand first caught Kim’s attention in her childhood. “I grew up in the countryside. As a kid, I always looked up to the kids wearing Kipling. I had many Kipling items, but always as an adult. It is really nice to be able to design for Kipling; it’s allowed me to remember my youth.”
Choose from backpacks, crossbodies, totes and luggage to small accessories and exclusive key hangers. New styles include the Dajung belt bag with three pouches, Delia Kim backpack with an oval pocket, and the Jihoon tote, entirely Minju-designed.
