With showstoppers like the Paris Olympics and National Day Parade now over, it’s time to go back to our national pastime – shopping. Here are some of the top places to get your shopping fix this August.

American Express’ Shop Small: Show support to your favourite businesses while reaping rewards

For the fifth year running, American Express’ Shop Small movement returns to spur Singaporeans to support their favourite local businesses. Until the end of the month (Aug 31), eligible Amex card members who enrol in the Shop Small offer on the app or website will receive $3 back for every $10 spent at over 4,000 participating businesses (redeemable up to five times). They’ll also get the chance to put their mouth where their money is by declaring support for their favourite local businesses at this website from Aug 26 to Sep 15. It’s not just voting for fun, as the top businesses across five districts (Bugis, Katong, Chinatown, Tanjong Pagar and Telok Ayer) will each win an advertising package worth $50,000. There’ll be something in it for their troubles as well, as each voter will stand a chance to win $2,000 in cash at the end of it all.
