The buzz: After 10 years, SK-II have closed up shop on Scotts Road, and opened a new flagship boutique at the recently renovated Shaw Centre.
The vibe: It looks small out front, but actually opens out into a sprawling space once you turn the corner. There are a total of 12 treatment rooms, a beauty bar and mini-store featuring all the SK-II products lined up. The whole space smells strongly of perfume and is dimly lit, calm and quiet—completely juxtaposed to the hustle and bustle spied from the window.
The goods: Although they cater to both men and women, it’s no surprise that women are the main clientele. Each new session starts with a consultation and skin analysis and from there treatments are recommended based on your specific skin concerns. It’s a professional setup but it’s certainly on the pricey side—their signature Cloud 9 Facial is $320 (100 minutes), the Urban Men facial is $260 (85 minutes) and the Senze Oxygenated Facial is $400 (100 minutes). To soften the blow, albeit a little, you get a free Mission Juice after your treatment.
Why you’ll be back: If you’re just after a facial, there are probably much cheaper options that would still tick most boxes. SK-II is more about skin solutions, it’s the place to go if you’re genuinely concerned about your skin and want a tailored and definitive treatment plan to battle wrinkles, dryness or acne.
