The modern four-story building takes design cues from the Baoli (the Indian stepped wall) and comes with five permanent galleries with different themes. The galleries are arranged chronologically and details the history between South and Southeast Asia to trace the roots of early Indians in Singapore and Malaya, covering events dating way back to the 1st century CE leading up to the 21st century. On top of artefacts, the space is also peppered with touch screens and interactive displays, with a special gallery for temporary exhibitions. Free entry for Singaporeans and PR; $4 for tourists.
