Temple Cellars is the hip new bottle shop that people are quietly raving about

If you’ve ever experienced the simple joys of walking into a no-frills Berlin bottle shop and leaving with a good, chilled beer in hand, then you’ll likely commiserate with the fact that Singapore is sorely lacking in that department. But a trip down to UE Square might soon change that. Newly opened earlier this month (Sep), Temple Cellars is an independent premium liquor store that promises the same honest appreciation of quality alcohol, without the usual faff of planning a night out.

Co-founded by Singaporeans Jasmin Wong, Kasster Soh and Kevin Ngan, the store has on offer possibly the best craft selection of beers, ciders, spirits, sakes and wines in Singapore. In championing boutique producers and craft, local brands with heart are a big part of the featured menu—such as Brewlander & Co., and Rye & Pint. Regulars in the local booze scene will probably recognize the team behind the store—Wong and Soh also manage alcohol distribution business The Mad Tapper and craft beer bar Freehouse; while Ngan runs bars Ah Sam Cold Drink Stall and Good Luck Beerhouse, among others.

To really boost local appreciation of craft liquor, sharing sessions on craft beer, sake and wine have also been organized, and run from now till the end of the year at a small fee. For an easy alternative to going ham at the bars—or even if you’re just looking for a quick pick-me-up on a weeknight—Temple Cellars is a great option, complete with a wide selection of local and international labels chilled for maximum enjoyment. We’re expecting big things.

Temple Cellars is open daily, 11am-11pm, at #01-12 UE Square, 81 Clemenceau Ave.
