The many faces of aesthetic medicine: In conversation with Dr. Neil Pawar of Om Aesthetics Clinic

For many all over the world, pursuing their own vision of beauty and aesthetics through various augmentation procedures is no longer something they keep to themselves anymore. Having come a long way since the field started developing, aesthetic medication and vanity procedures are now more widely understood and have even become a part of some people’s lifestyle choices. As we continue pursuing our vision of perfection, aesthetic medicine has also taken huge steps forward in their technology and innovation; presenting us with a growing range of different options, both invasive and non-invasive, along with more efficient treatments and improved patient care.

But beyond just vanity reasons, aesthetic medication has helped many patients rediscover themselves, their goals, and their confidence to take on life and the world. Known for his ability to deliver natural results and one of the very few certified aesthetic doctors in Singapore with a Board Certification in Aesthetic Medicine by the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, Dr. Neil Pawar of Om Aesthetics Clinic specialises in face lifting, face slimming, and anti-aging treatment.

We speak to Dr. Neil to find out more about what aesthetic treatment is about, their daunting reputation, and what his top anti-aging tip is.

Aesthetic medicine is a huge industry and many of us have heard so many stories. Is aesthetics mostly about invasive procedures to alter the way we look?

Aesthetic medicine is not only about altering a person’s appearance, it also includes a vast variety of non-invasive treatments that focus on anti-aging effects and treating skin ailments such as acne, rosacea, and eczema. This helps to improve a person’s self-confidence and overall wellbeing. At Om Aesthetics Clinic, we focus primarily on non-invasive procedures that help patients age gracefully.

A lesser-spoken part of aesthetic medicine is its use in treating a patient’s health and alleviate their medical ailments – could you share more?

Yes, that’s true! There are many people troubled by common skin ailments such as those I’ve mentioned and scarring, which is a very common concern actually. Over here, we’ve seen patients who have recovered from their conditions perform better personally and professionally due to their improved confidence as well as physical and mental wellbeing.

Despite our vanity and the promise of greater confidence, many of us are still afraid of the procedures involved in aesthetics – are they really that scary and painful?

The procedures might sound daunting, and I won’t deny that some are slightly uncomfortable, but at Om Aesthetics Clinic, we use premium numbing cream, effective painkillers, and management devices to help distract our patients and alleviate the pain so that the whole process is much more comfortable.

What are some common myths about aesthetic treatments that you’d like to clarify?

When many people think of aesthetic treatments, they immediately feel that they are very expensive, that they will alter your face, bring about a permanent change, and that they may end up making you look fake. But the field has improved substantially over the recent years. At Om Aesthetics Clinic, for example, the treatments we recommend are made affordable and our procedures are done in moderation to make our patients look their best at any occasion.

As a veteran practitioner, could you share with us more insights regarding non-invasive options?

Some examples of non-invasive procedures include Thermage, Radiofrequency microneedling, Ultraformer 3 HIFU, and Pico Glam treatments. These procedures are ideal for those looking for minimal downtime after the procedure and who would like, or may need, to resume their daily activities almost immediately.

What’s your favourite treatment available at your clinic and why?

We provide a wide range of treatments, but my favourite is Radiofrequency Microneedling. Radiofrequency Microneedling is a versatile treatment that helps to reduce sagging, fine lines, wrinkles, pores, blackheads, and even acne scars.

What are some other popular treatments in your clinic?

Other treatments which are popular at Om Aesthetics are our Thermage and Pico Glam treatments, as well as Profhilo and Ellanse collagen stimulating fillers.

Could you share some skincare tips to slow down aging with our readers?

The key to anti-aging is protection against sun damage and hydration. That’s why it is important to apply sunscreen regularly.

For our readers on the lookout, what new skincare or aesthetic medicine technology can we look forward to in Singapore?

I actually foresee Radiofrequency Microneedling becoming more popular and more widely applied in the next few years.
