Enter the homes and studios of artists at the 12th Wessex estate art walk

The burgeoning arts scene has grown steadily over the years and the Wessex estate in the west seems to be the community of choice for artists. If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to explore our very own enclave of international artists, come Oct 27-28, you will have the chance to do so on the 12th ArtWalk@Wessex.

For the uninitiated, the free, self-guided Wessex Art Walk, a long-running annual affair, is when various artists—10 this time—will open the doors of their studios along Weyhill Close, Woking Road, Westbourne Road and Whitchurch Road. With maps for the walk available at every studio, this presents a unique opportunity to discover artists, artworks and perhaps do some shopping, as you engage with the artists who will be on-site.

Artworks are splashed across several mediums, including oil painting, photography, ceramics and printing. One particular gallery—Isabelle Desjeux’s—is out in the open, within a garden, and installations are mostly made out of recycled materials like wood and paper mache. You will also find vibrantly-colored limited edition prints by Rasha Eleyan. The participating artists are truly an international bunch—from Italian artist Marina Fiesta with her reflective oil paintings, to Frances Alleblas of the Netherlands offering up poignant black and white drawings.

An immersive art experience doesn’t always call for pensive visits to galleries.
