Haven’t visited Genting Highlands in a while? While it may be a tried-and-tested holiday destination, there’s more to do there than what many Singaporeans are used to.
Just take a look at the latest campaign “A Bling Bling World at RWG” by Resorts World Genting. The integrated resort is set to welcome visitors with elevated, value-for-money experiences amid mist-shrouded scenery, cool mountain air and many entertainment options and attractions.
Consider any one of these eight reasons to plan a vacation there soon.
1. Enjoy refreshed rooms without breaking the bank
The current exchange rate of S$0.28 to RM1 (at the time of publication) makes travel relatively affordable, as are room rates, which start from as low as RM338 for the Superior Deluxe Room at the four-star Resorts World Awana. The hotel has undergone extensive remodelling, which means better rooms and surroundings for vacations, company retreats, and weddings.
Located at 944 metres above sea level, it provides you with the perfect opportunity to decompress after a few crazy months at work. It’s also easily accessible, approximately 40 minutes’ drive from Kuala Lumpur. Pro tip: Visitors are afforded easy access with 15 pick-up points from Singapore to Resorts World Awana if they book via WTS Travel & Tours and Transtar Travel.
Once you’ve checked into the Awana, getting around is easy. It’s just a two-minute drive to the Genting Highlands Premium Outlets via the free shuttle service.
Located close by is Crockfords, the only hotel in Malaysia to receive the prestigious five-star rating by Forbes Travel Guide for six consecutive years (2019 to 2024). It’s one of the Genting Highland’s swankiest gems, and guests can expect top service and luxurious facilities.
2. Choose a different menu for each meal
There is plenty to satisfy most appetites at the resort. Ayu Awana, for instance, is a new restaurant and poolside lounge that features a smokehouse and grill menu, regional dishes, healthy delights, and an extensive cocktail list.
Hotpot fans will enjoy the halal Awana Garden, where farm-to-table vegetables from the Atrium Greenhouse complement every meal along with fresh meats and seafood. Certain other ingredients like tongkat ali are foraged from the surrounding forest.
3. Tee off in the crisp mountain breeze
If you’re up for the challenge, you’ll soon be able to enjoy an iconic 18-hole mountainous golf course at the Awana. Meanwhile, the nine-hole course is framed by lush greens and a constant crisp mountain breeze.
4. Explore the rainforest
Genting Nature Adventures, located between 914 metres and 1,828 metres above sea level, offers a unique and immersive tropical rainforest experience. Natural wonders include flora and fauna that have thrived for millions of years, including endangered highland pitcher plants, as well as wild siamangs (black-furred gibbons) and beautiful tropical birds. Discover their amazing natural habitat and incredible landscape through narrated guided tours and interactive wayfinding.
5. Introduce the kids to nature
The Nature’s Little Planters programme for those under 12 is a great introduction to Genting Highlands for your kids. Every Friday and Saturday, it teaches young visitors the basic concepts of seed planting. Afterwards, they can take home their planted seedlings.
6. Sign up for special events
Treat the whole family to A Bling Bling World at Resorts World Genting, which takes place from Mar 19 to Aug 31. Everyone, including children, seniors and guests with disabilities, can enjoy more for a lot less. In particular, look forward to a Dazzling Evening with Uncle Bling & Niece Bling on Jun 10 which will include an exclusive dinner with the Mediacorp personalities, interactive activities and lucky draw.
7. Don’t miss the live concerts
Coming up on Mar 29 is Kelly Chen Season Two World Tour In Malaysia. Next is the Jacky Wu & Family Live Concert on Apr 20 followed by Kelly Yu 3×3 World Tour 2024 – Malaysia on Apr 24. Zhao Chuan Live Concert takes place on May 11. All the concerts will take place at Arena of Stars, Resorts World Genting.
8. Check out the Year of the Dragon: Bruce Lee the 1st Tour exhibition
Bruce Lee, martial arts master and movie legend, left us in July 1973, but his legacy continues. In this one-of-a-kind exhibition that’s on until Apr 14 at Times Square, Level 1 @ SkyAvenue Complex, Resorts World Genting, you can witness the legacy of a true icon during the Year of the Dragon. Meet a 2.5-metre statue of Lee replicating his iconic pose from the movies, wear a replica of his most famous costume, and take photos against scenes from his films.
