We went for the preview of top Aussie wine festival Margaret River Gourmet Escape last week and learnt some eye-opening facts about wine. Wine maker Travis Lemm of Voyager Estate gave a great talk on the region’s wines, and led a fun tasting session where we sampled their lively chenin blanc and a lovely semillion with straw and guava flavors.
Lemm shared his wine expertise in a really engaging way. He said, “Grape vines are a lot like us. They come into their own and do amazing things at 25, and then by the time they hit 45, they are completely useless.” He was a wonderful host and if the presentation was anything to go by, the upcoming festival should be a blast.
