A quickie at Montigo Resorts Nongsa

If the skies were clearer, we’re pretty sure this getaway would’ve been amazing. Still, haze levels were considerably lower than expected, as we quickly realized (to some dismay—we hadn’t bothered to bring any swimming gear) when we disembarked from our slick Aqua Voyage yacht after a quick 30-minute cruise.

Having an entire villa to oneself can be a little spooky at times, but being able to strip off and jump into the private pool or hog the giant (built for two?) sunkissed bathtub at will was pretty much worth it. That said, we think the villas at Montigo Resorts Nongsa are perfect for cozy get-togethers, especially on the amazing rooftop terrace that’s complete with barbecue pit and cushioned daybeds. Or come with a gentleman or lady caller if you’d like to put that tub to its (probable) intended use.

Should you venture outdoors, restaurants TADD’s and Pantai serve decent, affordable fare, and the Montigo Spa’s menu of scrubs and massages will tempt tense worker bees (treatments lean towards the gentle side, so consider yourselves warned, masochists). However, Singaporeans spoilt by the city’s bars won’t be impressed by the basic offerings at almost-beachside bar Tiigo, or the relative lack of shopping, dining and activity options. It is a secluded resort, after all.
