Hansar Samui Resort and Spa

Buzz: A sister of the stylish Hansar Bangkok, this u-shaped, brick-red building sits on the beachfront at the end of Bophut’s Fisherman’s Village. Rooms follow open floor plans, with nothing blocking your view from the door to the terrace. Hope you like being watched on the toilet.

Rooms: 74 rooms (54-67 sq meters). No pool villas.

Food & Spa: Chef Stephen Jean Dion is a transfer from Bangkok’s Nai Lert Park, while the Luxsa Spa gives treatments based on the four elements.

Verdict: A little more privacy in the bathroom, please. Too bad, rooms are otherwise very spacious.

Price: The Intimate Indulgence Package, which gets you three nights with breakfast, dinner and a massage class at the spa is B23,500 for a Sea View room or B30,500 for a Sea View XL room through Jul 15 (B31,000-37,000 during Jul 16-Aug 31). Otherwise, nightly rates are B5,500-9,500 until Jul 15. Taxes and service charge not included.
