8 sexy new hotels around Asia to book now

From a stylish boutique hotel in Bangkok to a chic waterfront villa in Sri Lanka, here are our favorite new openings around the region. 

Beijing’s new luxe Kempinski hotel is somewhat of an architectural feat. It’s shaped like a rising sun and is made up of more than 10,000 glass panels, which are tilted at an angle so that it reflects the color of the sky. Located 60km from the Beijing city center, the hotel is set along the Yanqi Lake and offers views of the Yan Mountain and a section of the Great Wall of China in the distance. The 306-room comes with nine restaurants and bars and a spa with hot and cold plunge pools, steam rooms and sauna. 
 

This luxe hotel chain recently opened its third property in China and this time, it’s in the history rich town of Lijiang. Set in one of the most gorgeous cities in China, the Amandayan sits on a hillside above the Old Town and serves up views of snow-capped mountains in the distance. It has 35 suites, with clean wooden interiors, Oriental touches like Chinese wooden window screens and fabrics from around the world. There’s also the Tea House overlooking the Lijiang Old Town. The resort also comes with a spa, library, gym and a cinema with 30 rooms.

Hotel Indigo, which is the cool younger sibling in the InterContinental Hotels group, takes design cues from its surrounding neighborhood so no two hotels look the same. This modern Bangkok property scores major points on the style front—all its rooms come with hard-wood flooring, locally-inspired artwork, floor-to-ceiling windows and sleek bathrooms with rainforest showers.  The 192-room boutique hotel is located in the heart of the city, in the laid back leafy boulevard of Wireless Road and is minutes away from Bangkok’s iconic Lumpini Park where you’ll find the odd splattering of street style mural. 

 

The 171-room beachside Holiday Inn Bali Benoa has just opened with a rather mind-boggling four pools (including an infinity pool and two swim-up bars) and tons of dining options. The lush property has three restaurants including Nudi Beach Bar housed in a Balinese-style pavilion, Duke’s Pool Bar & Lounge, as well as the beach-fronting Pasar Market Cafe with live music. There’s also the Tea Tree Spa that comes with six treatment rooms using locally-sourced products. 

 

Arty folk, this trendy boutique hotel has your name written all over it. This eclectic boutique hotel located in the trendy area of Causeway Bay became first hotel in Hong Kong to feature a larger-than-life mural on the exterior walls of its building. It also has a pop-up art space on the ground floor of the hotel, Art@Jplushk, that will be showcasing works from renowned international artists.  

 

Go on an unplugged holiday at your very own floating bungalow on the Mekong River. This sexy one-bedroom floating bungalow sits on the Mekong River itself and consists only of two wooden bungalows: the bedroom and the restaurant/bar. Located within the Arexat Village, this place is accessible only via a 30-minute boat ride. As back to basics as this place is, you still have some modern day comforts like a plush double bed, hot shower, air-conditioning and best of all, a terrace with deck chairs overlooking Phnom Penh.
