BK Restaurant Week is your chance to eat at Bangkok’s best restaurants for under $50

If you’re visiting Bangkok any time from Sep 14-29 then you’re in luck. BK Magazine (that’s our sister magazine) has joined forces with 60 of the city’s best restaurants to offer special dinners at a knockout fixed price of B1,000 per person ($41.40) for a minimum of three courses.

That’s an incredible deal! In fact, it represents a saving on average of 50 percent across all BK Restaurant Week participating venues (and a lot more at some places). Restaurants taking part include some of the top fine-dining players in the Thai capital, such as L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon, Sensi, Bunker, Quince and Appia, as well as hip newcomers like 100 Mahaseth and Haoma (see the full list below).

“It’s about time Bangkok had an annual restaurant week worthy of our dynamic food-and-beverage scene,” said Andrew Hiransomboon, managing director of Asia City Media Group, BK Magazine’s parent company.

“There have been other attempts but frankly, they’ve all sucked—from people with nowhere near the passion we have for food or without the deep relationships we’ve built with the city’s best chefs and restaurateurs over 17 years championing Bangkok dining.”

Like SG Magazine, BK’s relationship with its city’s food scene is second to none. That means they’ve been able to design a restaurant week that makes sense for consumers as well as F&B owners. You won’t find any of that coupon-that-can-be-used-any-day crap that’s convenient for diners but terrible for restaurants.

“What we’ve done is applied the sort of high standards we’re known for in our editorial products to this project, from selecting restaurants we think are great to working with them on their menus, giving them feedback when we don’t think what they’ve proposed is good enough,” said Andrew.

General booking opens this Aug 20 (though if you use a Citibank credit card you can start making bookings from right now and also get special dining perks at each venue). Make your reservations at www.bkrestaurantweek.com through their booking partner, Tavolos.

“This is just the first year of BK Restaurant Week but look at this awesome lineup,” said Andrew. “You won’t believe their menus are only 1,000 baht.”

While “Restaurant Weeks” are a common feature of big cities worldwide, Bangkok has yet to host one that’s really taken hold. The idea is simple: Diners get to sample a city’s best restaurants through prix-fixe menus offered at an unbeatable rate, restaurants get to cover the cost through the high volume of covers and heightened media exposure, and everyone gets to celebrate and strengthen the local dining scene.

You’ll find every restaurant’s menu at www.bkrestaurantweek.com. Bookings are currently open for Citibank credit cards only. Booking for all card types open Aug 20.
