Cube Boutique Capsule Hotel’s second outlet has landed in Kampong Glam

If you’ve ever seen the capsule hotels in Japan, you’d probably have risen an eyebrow over how the tiny rooms (maybe the size of a coffin) could be liveable. But you don’t have to worry about that here at the newly opened Cube Capsule Boutique Hotel at Kampong Glam, which boasts affordable yet luxurious accommodation catered to the new generation of savvy travelers.

Following Cube’s first opening in Chinatown, this second outlet is equally, if not, more spacious and well-equipped. For each “room”, you can choose from a single or queen size bed, and it comes complete with a safe, vanity area and even a small space for hanging garments all designed to fit in this compact space. What’s cool is that it’s not only for single business travelers or budget backpackers. Separate “family” rooms are available as well with a configuration of two single beds and two queen beds. For ladies who value extra security and privacy, opt for the women-only section of rooms.

Let’s talk about the most important aspect (to us, at least) when it comes to evaluating an accomodation—the bathrooms. While shared, you can expect a pretty hotel-standard bathroom with spacious standing showers, a hairdryer and basic toiletries. A dental kit, slippers and one towel is also provided and can be exchanged daily at the concierge that’s open 24/7 (you can also find the Singapore Visitor Center there in the lobby, how handy).

Prices range from $50-120 per night, but it includes complimentary Wi-Fi, breakfast and usage of the washing machine, which means you get more bang for your buck. And to top it all off, it’s located in Kampong Glam, which is only a short five-minute walk from Bugis MRT and a stone’s throw away from other cafes, shops and heritage sites such as the Sultan Mosque (and not forgetting Haji Lane).

So whether you’re a traveler looking for a little indulgent upgrade from hostels, or just a Singaporean wanting to take some time off to be a tourist in your own country, you might want to consider this if you don’t mind sleeping a meter away from the next occupant. The walls are soundproof though, so any neighboring snores (and other sounds) will (hopefully) be muted.

Cube Boutique Capsule Hotel is located at 55 Bussorah Street and is open 24/7. More information and bookings can be made here.
