Dive through a shipwreck in the Maldives

This boutique island-resort of Angsana Ihuru in the Maldives is celebrating its 15th birthday by hosting a special 24-hour diving event on Apr 25 that will take scuba divers and snorkelers to the site of the Rannamaari wreck, which sunk in 1999. At a depth of 26 meters, it’s also the only shipwreck in the Maldives that sits on a house reef and is also home to thousands of sea creatures like giant moray eels, scorpion fish and nurse sharks.

Or, if you’d rather keep your feet dry, you can still explore the site of the wreck, thanks to underwater camera and a live streaming of the event. Follow them on Facebook for updates or watch it here. The 24-hour event will be split into six dives and between dives, you can refuel at the resort’s beachfront restaurant Riveli that serves up Maldivian, Mediterranean and Asian dishes or sip on a refreshing cocktail at the Velaavani Bar that overlooks the lagoon.

Villas start at USD$700+ ($971+) per night and each dive will set you back USD$76 ($105), with a special 20% discount on Apr 25.
