If you want to travel out of Asia but can’t deal with flying more than 10 hours, you might want to look to Australia. It only takes about seven hours to get to anywhere on the East coast of Australia (Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast), and about five hours to the West coast (Perth). And now, you can fly directly to the underrated beach resort town of Broome (we’ve listed it as one of the must-visit places this year) direct via Silkair.
This highly anticipated flight will be running four return trial flights on May 22, 26 29 and Jun 2, leaving Singapore at 10:30am and returning at 4pm on the same day. You’ll have options of four, seven or 11 nights to explore this North West region of Australia. This new route will cut your travel time from about 10.5 hours (if you transit through Perth) to just four hours. According to Glen Chidlow, Australia’s North West Tourism CEO, these dates have been picked to coincide with certain events like the natural phenomenon, Staircase to the Moon. You could even take a ride on a camel on Cable Beach during sunset, try a variety of craft beers at the iconic Matso’s Brewery that overlooks Roebuck Bay, be in awe at Hamersley Gorge (pictured above) or check out dinosaur-roamed sites. The choices are endless.
