Koryo Tours offers chance to join North Korea marathon

For the first time ever amateur runners will have the chance to take part in North Korea’s Pyongyang Marathon on April 13. The marathon will be an optional addition to adventure specialist Koryo‘s April tours to the country.

Previously, hundreds of local runners and some elite foreign athletes have taken part in the race. Those that join the event have the option of running the full or half marathon.

Koryo’s Pyongyang Marathon Mini-Break Itinerary 2014 lets you either watch from the sidelines or be a part of it yourself. For spectators there will also be local football matches taking place at Kim Il Sung stadium during the race.

The mini-break starts and ends in Beijing, and incorporates some sightseeing around Pyongyang. The tour includes Beijing-Pyongyang flights, meals, entry fees and guides, but there will be an additional cost for the marathon (entry fee yet to be confirmed). The trip will be held from 12-15/16 April 2014, for €1,090 ($1,883).

Travelers on the Architecture Tour 2014, Kim Il Sung Birthday Short Tour Itinerary 2014, and the Kim Il Sung Birthday Long Tour Itinerary 2014, will also have the opportunity to join the marathon.
