Luxury Philippine hotel the Raffles Makati is now open in Metro Manila with rates starting at PHP18,800 (S$576).
A ninth project by the Raffles Hotels and Resorts group, the 30-story building includes 32 suites and 237 residences (for private sale) as well as the Fairmont Makati, an establishment with 280 rooms.
Each of the suites boasts floor-to-ceiling windows with unobstructed views of the city skyline. Design elements include silk, velvet and satin fabrics, with locally-inspired ceramics, paintings and woven baskets.
The place also has a Raffles’ Long Bar featuring décor similar to the Singapore branch, with tropical punka fans, black, ivory and terracotta tiled floors, and a 14-metre long bar. Also on offer are two outdoor swimming pools and the Willow Stream Spa, with five treatment rooms plus a hair and nail salon.
Makati is the financial hub for the Philippines, home to foreign Embassies and the Philippine Stock Exchange, with a rich arts scene and plenty of retail options. Besides that, there are attractions like Malacanang Palace (home to the nation’s president) and Ayala Museum, which chronicles the history of the Philippines.
