Going to Melbourne? Here’s how to find out where the cool gigs are.

It’s no secret that Melbourne—dubbed Australia’s hipster capital by Buzzfeed—is big on art, sports and of course, coffee. Victoria’s largest city is also known for its live music scene, with indie gigs a regular fixture at bars and cafes around town.

GoHear, a free mobile gig guide for both iPhone and Android users, has launched recently and it’s a handy tool for those travelers and city folk who’d like to get clued in on the hottest showcases in town. It gives users a detailed list of local music performances happening for the week, and there’s even a playlist so you can sample tunes before deciding where to go. The app provides the option of searching by music preferences, date, venue and price, with a map that gives an overview of the locations where featured bands are playing at.

GoHear is currently only available in Melbourne, and can be downloaded here. More information can be found on their Facebook page.
