The Penang World Music Festival 2013 to feature 12 bands performing from March 30-31

The Penang World Music Festival (PWMF) 2013 is set to feature 12 different acts, playing from March 30-31 at the Penang Botanic Gardens.

Among the groups in attendance are folk band Mu from Portugal, West African singer Kimi Djabate, ethnic music performers Inka Marka from South America, pop-rock group Kalayo from the Philippines and Malaysian bands like AkashA. A project by the Penang State Tourism Development and Culture Office, tickets for the show cost RM80 (S$32) per day.

Penang offers a host of new boutique hotels to stay at while in town including 23 Love Lane, an estate comprising buildings that were built at various times throughout the 19th and 20th centuries: The Anglo Indian Bungalow, The Straits Eclectic Building, The 1920′s Jack Roof Annex and The Indian Shophouse. Next door to the meticulously restored historic structure is Steak Frites @ 23, a casual eatery serving only one thing: grilled Australian beef tenderloin with café de paris butter and fries (150g for RM49 (S$20), 200g for RM60 (S$24)). Rates start at RM500 (S$200).
