Bali’s Potato Head is getting a chic boutique hotel

Singapore’s Potato Head Folk is over a year old now, but the group’s claim to fame has always been the beach club in Bali. And come early 2016, it’s getting a major new addition. The Katamama is a 58-suite boutique hotel designed by Indonesian architect Andra Matin (the man known for his AM and WH Residences) and will be adjacent to the beach club.

The design involves a lovely mix of Balinese exteriors and traditional touches, paired with carefully sourced vintage European furniture inspired from the 1940s and 50s. Suites all come with maxi-bars and teak furnishings and include the 320 sq m Katamama suite with floor-to-ceiling sea views and the 140 sq m Pool suite with a private courtyard and garden. The biggest suite is the Presidential Penthouse suite, which has rooms that come with soundproof glass and a rooftop garden.

Other facilities include a pool (with pool bar, of course), the Akademi, a “center of mixology” by London bartending legend Dre Masso that will regularly host up and coming bartenders and a restaurant by Australia-based Spanish restaurant group MoVida.
