Scoot has been busy adding long-haul flights to its network, with destinations like Athens and Honolulu already in operation, and Berlin in the later half of 2018. Fret not, they’ve not forgotten about their regional roots. They’ll be flying to the city of Nanchang from Jul 2, and to Pekanbaru in the second quarter this year; both using on their A320 aircrafts.
Nanchang is the capital of Jianxi Province, and is also known as a cultural and economical center with a history dating back some 2,200 years, so it makes for a great new Asian destination to explore. It’s also Scoot’s 20th destination in Greater China, and will fly three times a week.
As for Pekanbaru, Scoot is taking over SilkAir’s flight service to the city, adding on to the current Indonesian destinations like Bali (Denpasar), Jakarta, Palembang and Surabaya. The city is still relatively “untouched” among tourists, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth a visit. The nightlife scene there may still be young and fleeting, but you’re better off checking out attractions like the Mesjid An-Nur, the Museum Nigiri Riau and other cultural spots.
With these two new destinations, the low-cost airline will fly to a total of 66 different cities across 18 countries by the end of the year.
