Halal Restaurant Week Korea, confusingly not a week-long but a two-month long event where Muslims and other travelers alike get to enjoy halal Korean food, purchase Korean goods and participate in various cultural activities at promotional prices, is back after its first successful run last year.
The annual event takes place from Sep 1-Oct 31 this year and is an initiative by South Korea to showcase the country as a Muslim-friendly destination. During these two months, a free Halal Restaurant Guidebook will be made available to travelers at tourist hotspots such as Incheon International Airport and Itaewon in Seoul, or Korea Plaza (3 Church Street) in Singapore.
Inside the guide, besides a list of halal restaurants you can check out, there are also special discount coupons that can be used at selected restaurants. There’s also the online version of the guide this year.
There are more than 100 Muslim-friendly or halal restaurants located in various parts of Korea taking part. This year’s booklet also contains a number of discount coupons that are non-food related. You can check out various attractions and activities such as aquariums, beeswax museums, perfume-making workshops, Hanbok rental, halal cosmetic shops, duty free shops and more, where special rates await.
