Perth might sometimes be overshadowed by its more illustrious counterparts Sydney and Melbourne—however, there’s plenty to see and do in the capital of Western Australia. On top of idyllic beaches and stunning vineyards, Perth is also hosting the widely-acclaimed Perth International Arts Festival and the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival.
The upcoming Telstra Perth Fashion Festival—Western Australia’s largest fashion event—will take place on September 22 this year. The festival typically showcases the best fashion designers from Down Under; however, this year there will also be a special international program (in collaboration with FIDé Fashion Weeks and the Asian Couture Federation), which will feature leading international designers Sebastian Gunawan and Michael Cinco. More details of the festival here.
Also on the calendar is the 2015 Perth International Arts Festival (February 3 to March 7 2015), which is the longest running annual international multi-arts festival in the southern hemisphere. Details are still sketchy, but festival-goers can expect world-renowned French street theater company Royal de Luxe to put up some of their incredible giant mechanical marionettes for the event. There’ll also be an array of theater, music, film, visual and street arts, and literature events to look forward to. Bookmark the festival’s official website for more updates.
The best way to get to Perth is to book a Scoot flight (around $439 for a round-trip itinerary in September). Tickets for the festivals can be purchased via their respective websites.
