The owner, Mark Weingard, was in the location when the tsunami hit nine years ago, and based on his experiences is giving 10 percent of room revenue and five percent of all other revenue to charity.
Rates are a steep US$4,000 ($5,076) per night for a penthouse for two, but this does include everything you need for your ultra luxe stay, including use of a vehicle, all meals (picnics too), non-alcoholic drinks, two dinners per week at the resort’s restaurant helmed by three-michelin-star chef Eneko Atxa of Spain’s Azurmendi, and three hours of massage treatments each day in the penthouse.
