W Shanghai – The Bund marks the debut of the W Hotels brand in Shanghai, bringing with it a fun and colorful contemporary design by G.A. Design with a few local touches—think neon lights, qipao patterns and cheeky xiaolongbao-shaped pillows.
Standing amid Art Deco buildings and Chinese mansions, the hotel’s 374 guest rooms also come with views of the Huangpu River and the Pudong urban skyline. The highlight is the the Cloud on the Bund suite, featuring an LED wall and a hanging bed, while the Extreme WOW Suite duplex features over 4,000 sqm of living space and funky futuristic installations. Opening rates start at CNY1,688/night (around $343/night), inclusive of breakfast.
All of the brand’s signature dining and spa options can be found here: W’s New York-style bistro The Kitchen Table, the cocktail-toting Woobar, Wet Bar and the Away Spa. Cantonese fine-dining is showcased at Yen, as also seen in W Taipei, and there’s even a hidden speakeasy called Liquid at Yen that takes you back to the roaring ’20s.
