Wonderfruit, the four-day festival of art, music, food and wellness, is back for the sixth time this Dec 12-16, and its first wave of artists has been announced.
As we’ve come to expect, the list isn’t exactly brimming with household names, but there is plenty that should prick up the ears of adventurous listeners, from a renowned BBC DJ personality to a founding member of British trip-hop legend Massive Attack.
Among the first names to catch our attention is Floating Points, the genre-blurring English producer behind one of the decade’s most acclaimed electronic albums (2015’s Elaenia), and French house producer-singer duo Breakbot & Irfane of the ubiquitous summer hit “Baby I’m Yours.”
Elsewhere on the lineup there’s BBC DJ Nick Luscombe, described as a “restless musical soul,” Daddy G of Massive Attack acclaim, Ed Banger Records’ founder Busy P, expansive Swedish electronic duo Gidge, Japanese ambient-pianist Midori Hirano and Germany’s Acid Pauli, a 20-year veteran of the club scene.
Festival-goers can also expect sets from British-German producer Daniel Brandt & Eternal Something of London’s Erased Tapes, reggae crew Trojan Sound System, rising sought-after DJ Sonja Moonear, British singer-songwriter Yasmin, and a slew of locals led by rockers Mattnimare and The Richman Toy.
This year’s festival will put a focus on sustainability, eco-friendliness and wellness, allowing attendees to meet inspiring pioneers from these fields.
Wonderfruit 2019 will take place at The Fields at Siam Country Club, Pattaya. Phase 1 tickets start at B5,000 ($221) for a weekend or B5,900 ($260) for the four full days.
