Hotel chain X2’s new design resort along the River Kwai will make you want to book right away

The award-winning X2 resorts chain is expanding again—this time, it’ll be launching the X2 River Kwai in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, in July this year.

X2 River Kwai, which is located on a 2-acre stretch along the Kwai Noi River, will feature eight luxe cabins, with plans to add 18 more villas by mid 2015 (hearsay that these additional rooms will be perched over the river itself). The resort will feature a super-sexy industrial chic aesthetic—think container style cabins in cheery colors and lots of concrete. Each room will also provide guests with panoramic vistas of the river and the surrounding countryside.

Some of the resort’s facilities will include a river view restaurant with an outdoor deck, a library, an infinity riverfront pool, bicycles for loan, free Wi-Fi, in-room massages and iPads. There will also be 24-hour security guards and CCTV surveillance for added safety.

The resort is reason enough to visit the western province of Kanchanaburi, which is an easy two-hour bus ride away from Bangkok. However, there’s also plenty to do around the area—there are plenty of forests, mountains, caves and waterfalls to explore, as well as the famous Bridge over the River Kwai. There’re also the WWII Museum and Art Gallery, Thai-Burma Railway Museum and Don Rak War Cemetery for history buffs.

Introductory rates (through July 31) start at THB5,5500 (S$213) for a one-night stay in a LuXe Cabin, inclusive of champagne breakfast for two. Valid for stays betwen July 1 and November 30; visit the resort’s website for more info.
