Ritz Carlton’s first Japanese venture is this tropical island getaway in Okinawa. The place boasts panoramic views of the East China Sea and is right next to the Kise Country Club (a site with two championship golf courses). The décor incorporates traditional elements like Shurijo face motifs, red clay roof tiles and water ponds. Among its restaurants are Chura-Nuhji, an Italian fine dining establishment, and Kise, a teppanyaki spot featuring local Kuroge and Wagyu beef as well as fresh-caught seafood. Rooms start at JPY58,000 ($948).
