“Biohacking” is one of the latest buzzwords when it comes to our health. It essentially means adopting practices, be it through technology, nutritional and medical techniques, to optimise one’s health and fitness and to reach specific health goals.
Technology-led biohacking may be as simple as using wearables for monitoring, tracking and management of your vitals, or taking advantage of AI-driven mindfulness apps. If you want to delve further into scientifically backed treatments and state-of-the-art technology to boost your well-being or just to relax and recuperate from the daily hustle, Asia’s first social wellness club Rekoop might have what you are looking for.
But it is not a spa nor a fitness centre, emphasises its co-founder and wellness director, Diana Kraemer. It is also not a yoga studio or medical clinic. She says, “Rekoop was conceived with a vision to serve as a sanctuary for everyone seeking to reclaim energy, restore balance, and unlock their full potential, regardless of their background or fitness level.”
As a former professional athlete, Kraemer realised the importance of seeking respite from the fast-paced urban environment, and for individuals to be able reclaim vitality, balance and peak performance. It led her to create a space where patrons can immerse themselves in luxe-lounge surrounds and personalised health and wellness treatments.
Combining wellness and technology
Stepping into Rekoop is like being wrapped in a warm blanket – one is comforted with natural elements, specially designed lighting, therapeutic-grade scents, energised water, and frequency-tuned sounds. The atmosphere is tranquil and serene.
The lounge area has been designed to bring people together, and comfortably hosts up to 20 guests with plenty of space for socialising. In the works are regular group wellness sessions, corporate retreats, and collaborative experiences, all aimed at enhancing overall wellness through shared participation and community engagement.
Dedicated concierges help navigate guests through an eight pillar approach trademarked the “Optimal 8”, a comprehensive framework addressing movement, nourishment, community, mindfulness, habits, feelings, energy, and aspiration.
Alongside a questionnaire which helps determine lifestyle stresses, guests will peer into a high-tech mirror which will reveal over 50 markers such as stress, skin age, and metabolism. This data analysis informs the creation of a bespoke wellness programme, ensuring each guest’s path to optimal health is uniquely their own. Its approach is to fuse the wisdom of ancient remedies with cutting-edge technology to create a one-of-a-kind experience.
A variety of science-based wellness therapies are available. AirPod oxygen therapy uses pressurised oxygen to accelerate your body’s natural healing processes; Cryo Ice Therapy utilises extremely cold temperatures to reduce inflammation and soothe muscle soreness; and lymphatic drainage therapy activates the body’s natural detoxification processes and reduces fluid retention.
There are also infrared saunas for rejuvenation; ice baths to improve immune function; and red light therapy to promote collagen production. Other services include NuCalm Neuro Soundhealing to help achieve a tranquil state of mind, and Healy Frequency Therapy to realign your body’s frequencies and boost cellular vitality.
Rekoop is at Level 4, 18 Robinson Road, Singapore 048547. Those interested can sign up for membership benefits or opt for personalised a la carte offerings tailored to their preferences.
