ArtScience Late: Hypermnesia
Shunsuke Francois Nanjo, Kensuke Christophe Nanjo, Nicolas Charbonnier collaborate with well-known Filipino choreographer Eisa Jocson in an interactive piece for this edition of ArtScience Late, ArtScience Museum’s monthly experimental/performance art event. The latter manipulates the installation and soundscape using body heat and movement. Shows start at 8pm and 9pm.
Comedy Kampong
Hood Bar’s standup comedy night Comedy Kampong is back, and its latest edition is a double bill with New York-based Singaporean funnywoman Jocelyn Chia, who’s performed on Sirius FM, and the Philippines’ Orion Perez, who’s played at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and our recent Readers’ Choice Awards.
Enter The Void Deck: Sungei Road Edition
Homegrown MC and R&B musician Kevin Lester (a.k.a. Thelioncityboy) headlines this recurring local hip hop festival that aims to promote Singaporean “void deck” culture. Also playing: local hip hop artist Nicco Homaili, beatboxer VKSFX, acoustic band Swiitch and other upstarts.
Tarot Meetup
This get-together for tarot card readers offers free readings on the spot. Participants are encouraged to bring their decks, deck clothes, books or any other material to share with fellow enthusiasts. Newbies are welcome as well. Chingay
Coinciding with Chinese New Year, this annual street parade sees over 10,000 performers and floats take to the streets. This year’s theme is We Heart SG. To participate, Singaporeans can craft flowers from used plastic bags to represent their good wishes for the nation.
Terra Incognita
Local artist Pat Toh really loves walking. In fact, she loves it so much that it inspired her latest performance installation, Terra Incognita. Set to feature at the upcoming M1 Fringe Festival 2015, she looks beyond this very basic act to explore life and loss through the steps taken and the choices made in life.
