You may be familiar with OH! Open House’s many art walks and unique initiatives, given its long history of producing immersive art experiences. Now, expect the independent arts organisation to deliver on yet another innovative experience, as it unveils the new OH! Stories and its first main event.
Named New World’s End, the brand new art walk will take place from Jun 19 onwards, with early access previews happening from May 22-Jun 13. Coming to the friendly neighbourhood of Jalan Besar, the site-specific audio tour is supported by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).
Set against the backdrop of the New World Amusement Park in the 1960s, the immersive affair invites audiences to pick up a headset and embark on a journey alongside a pair of young lovers. The story follows Kiran, a cinema projectionist that falls in love with Rosa, a dance hostess at the cabaret—but fate threatens to keep them apart.
Combining the rich history of Jalan Besar with contemporary art, New World’s End will take visitors down mysterious back alleys into hidden rooms and fantasy spaces. There, audiences can explore lavish, multimedia sets that reveal the couple’s backstories and secrets.
Blurring the lines between fiction and reality, Kiran and Rosa’s love story is enhanced by evocative soundtrack by music duo NADA, as well as films by Brian Gothong Tan.
We won’t offer any more details lest they lead to spoilers, but know that if you’re looking for an unforgettable adventure filled with excitement, you should grab tickets for the New World’s End tour.
