Cosplayers and pop culture enthusiasts are having a field day this year. From Anime Festival Asia to Singapore Comic Con, there were no shortage of events to visit and channel your inner fantasy or superhero character. Rounding up 2024 is EOY J-Culture Festival 2024, Singapore’s largest Japanese pop culture celebration. This edition returns bigger and better than ever from Dec 21 to 22, having grown from one hall to two this year at Suntec Convention Centre.

EOY J-Culture Festival, described as “a labour of love that brings the community together to celebrate Japanese pop culture in all its dynamic forms”, is the ultimate gathering for J-pop, anime, and cosplay fans to connect, create, and celebrate. The two-day event features a line-up of more than 30 stage shows daily, international guest artistes, a Creators’ Alley with 250 exhibitors, and engaging Fringe Activities like cultural workshops and gaming zones.

This year, five celebrated guest artistes from across Asia will light up the stage with their unique talents: Icezu (Thailand); Ola Aphrodite (Indonesia); Yakko (Japan); Wata (Japan); and RuRu (Taiwan). On stage, there are live music, dance acts, and talent showcases with performances by Cheryl Rein, HalcyonMusic, madLABS, RYSE, Kyururun!, Nobrand Zhabors, and more.

At Creators’ Alley, explore a sprawling marketplace showcasing anime-style illustrations, fan merchandise, and cosplay props. Meet creators up close, enjoy fanmeets, and commission custom works tailored just for the fans. Highlights include professional cosplayer Xiaoyukiko, multi-talented artist and author Samara Gan (author of How to Date a Dozen Men), and Black Crow Taxidermy & Art, Singapore’s only commercial taxidermy studio, known for its uniquely crafted pieces. Don’t forget to set aside some time for fringe activities such as tabletop gaming and culture workshops.

And of course, remember to come dress in your best cosplay outfit and bring your favorite character to life.
