Celebrate Singapore’s 55th birthday this weekend at these 7 exciting National Day events

A slightly somber National Day Parade is to be expected this year as a result of our country’s continued battle against the Covid-19 pandemic, but it’ll also be more important than ever to commemorate Singapore’s independence as a nation. So don’t let your mood be dampened, and instead join in the celebrations at various venues and virtual events in Singapore. From digital revelries to a filmmaking competition, here’s how to spend your three-day weekend while observing the special occasion.

Celebrating the Majulah Spirit! at ACM

A wide array of National Day-themed activities await at the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) this August, including a special musical performance, virtual self-guided trails of the ACM’s galleries, as well as the chance to have your e-portrait drawn by an illustrator. During this month, also expect to be able to learn about cross-cultural art, inspired by Singapore’s many cultures and faiths. Create your own calligram (find out what that means here), then showcase your artwork on social media and tag the museum on Instagram for a chance to be featured.
