Starting out as solo artists, German producers Frankey and Sandrino only got together in 2010 out of their pure love of house music. They recorded their first self-titled EP that year, and the rest was history. They’ll be serving up a real deep and melodic set over at Tuff Club. May 18
PERFORMANCE
Go on an aural journey with German musician, composer and record producer Nils Frahm, as he experiments and improvises on a classic piano, a Rhodes piano and a synthesizer at his debut in Esplanade. Part of his tour for his new album All Melody, this one-night concert will also see a post-show dialogue where Frahm will reveal his creative process in layering numerous elements for his music. Kult’s newest exhibition Word will interpret written text in visual forms through artworks. Specifically, the artists involved were invited to interpret traditional scripts such as Arabic, Braille and Urdu. May 18-Jun 20

Pangdemonium’s 2017 sold-out original production Dragonflies returns for an extended run, with Adrian Pang, Tan Kheng Hua, Fanny Kee and Frances Lee reprising their roles, performing alongside new additions Benjamin Chow, Elizabeth Morse and Matt Grey joining the cast. The show is set in 2021, in a xenophobic post-Brexit world. The England-based protagonist Leslie Chen is deported back to Singapore after the death of his wife in the UK. He now has to relearn and reintegrate into the country he left in his youth. May 18-Jun 3

After sold-out success in London, Los Angeles, New York and Hong Kong, UK-based theater company Secret Theatre Project is finally coming to Singapore, bringing to locals their unique style of interactive theater. The experience essentially takes audience members on a high-budget theatrical production that can include anything from deciding a central character’s fate to journeying through a full-blown haunted house adventure. Singapore-based Taiwanese indie pop art illustrator and designer Billy Ma will be showcasing pieces from his Sexy Sin City series at casual French dining eatery Merci Marcel, as part of the restaurant’s first-ever art exhibition. Check out Wes Anderson’s stop-motion comedy animation Isle of Dogs, a film that follows a young boy who heads over to an island after his dog (and its entire species) was banished after a canine-flu outbreak. Singapore’s thrift scene might seem desolate to most but one star has consistently shone above the rest. New2U Thrift Shop, a subsidiary under the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations is back with their annual bazaar. The thrifting madness gets multiplied tenfold, with the entire space opening up from its usual one-room affair to display heaps of pre-loved clothes, designer bags and more on sale.
