Annual international charity event Negroni Week is back in Singapore for the fourth consecutive year, and they’re promising a bigger and better event than ever with over 70 bars participating in the seven-day soiree taking place from Jun 4-10.
The charity bit works like this: participating bars and restaurants will pledge at least $1 to a charity of their choice for every Negroni cocktail or Negroni-inspired creation sold. So do your part that week and order the classic Italian cocktail all you want. And it won’t be difficult, seeing how the island’s top bartenders are coming up with some really interesting and unique spins on the drink.
Neon Pigeon’s Symphony Loo
There’s Neon Pigeon’s Symphony Loo offering the Bello Bella ($20); a concoction of Campari, infused citrus gin and umeshu reduction, and bianco vermouth. She said this will be one for those who love the Italian classic as well as Limoncello. Then there’s Origin Bar’s Buona Vista ($23), from their menu, created by bartenders Adam Bursik and Bystrik Uko. As the name suggests, it’s a locally inspired take on the Negroni, made from Campari, chocolate and hazelnut distillate, fig infused vermouth, and topped with coffee foam.
We’re heading straight for Smoke & Mirrors though, cause they’re being a real MVP by donating $5 per Negroni drink ordered. Plus, if their Playful Eye cocktail menu is any measure to go by, we’re sure their Shards & Bitters ($22), made by bartender Diveysh Pillai, will be a hit. In it are the traditional Negroni essentials of Campari and sweet vermouth, but takes on a special twist with the use of basil pepperberry gin. As if that’s not unique enough, Pillai has decided to add a piece of potato glass (we’re not entirely sure what it is either) on top as garnish.
More details on Negroni Week will be released closer to date, but we’ve already marked it down on our calendars in anticipation. You should too.
