7 quirky markets to check out in September

New month, new markets. If you’re itching to drop some cash on anything from knickknacks to pet snacks, mark the dates for these markets below.

The Finest Thai Festival (Sep 8-10)

Start the month right and indulge in all things Thai at this festival market, which combines food, crafts, fashion, design and living in a three-day shebang happening along Orchard Road. Organized by the Royal Thai Embassy.

Farmers’ Market at Loewen Gardens (Sep 9)

The never-failing Loewen Gardens market is back with a health and wellness farmers’ market the first Saturday of September. Browse and shop a wide range of essentials, from organic produce to sportswear, to nutritional cookbooks and naturally-based home products and even fitness training packages. The first 20 registrants will snag a goodie bag and free 30-minute workout class by Body Temple.

Tribe x Music Market (Sep 16)

For a specially curated music merch shopping experience, head to Tribe x Music Market by Revision at Camp Kilo, where you can swap your pre-loved vinyl with fellow music-lovers and collectors in the presence of quality tunes. Select stalls will also be on hand to sell physical releases from Singaporean music labels, collectives and record enthusiasts and stores.

Ice Cream Sundays (Sep 17)

Kill many birds with one stone with a space disco-themed return of Sunday pop-up party series Ice Cream Sundays. Shop, party and eat all in one place; the outdoor event will feature food and drinks, a market, and a line-up of DJs including special guest DJs MyHero and Daryl C, to bring tracks worthy of an out-of-this-world disco.

Red Cross International Bazaar 2017 (Sep 23)

The Singapore Red Cross’s signature bazaar is back, this time with an impressive 50-stall showcase. Featuring diplomatic missions and local enterprises, the bazaar will have food, beverages and merchandise, which you can purchase via tickets at $10 each ($100 per book of 10). Of the vendors, expect to see Swiss cheese raclette, Japanese sake, Brazilian BBQ; as well as handmade jewelry and crafts, and even game stalls. Spend guilt-free here; 100% of the sales proceeds go towards local humanitarian services that help the disabled, elderly and vulnerable.

Public Garden Consumer Trade Show (Sep 23-24)

Sounds daunting, but this international trade show is essentially just a curated mega flea of independent designers selling their unique crafts. If supporting entrepreneurs is more your thing, head down to check out some of the quirkiest independent brands in Asia, including vendors from China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore. All kinds of goods are welcome at the show, so look out for anything from clothes to accessories to handmade stationery.

Camp Canine (Sep 24)

You might feel a little out of place here—if you aren’t the loving owner to a dog, that is. Camp Kilo is partnering with pet fashion brand Fours for a fun-filled pet day out that includes a furry fashion showcase, a pet adoption drive and a pet market. It’s your chance to shop great pet brands like Barking Good for dog-friendly cakes and Wholesome Paws for pet supplies. If you and your pup get bored, there are even competitions to take part in. Admission is free.
