Opened in 1980, Shima restaurant was the very first teppanyaki restaurant in Singapore, and has been delighting local diners with its unique brand of teppan flair and Japanese fare of superior quality and freshness. Succulent beef, tender chicken, exotic seafood like live lobsters and airflow giant oysters are all prepared right before the eyes of diners atop cast-iron grills, whose patina has been seasoned over three decades to imbue more flavor into the food. Besides their signature teppanyaki menu, Shima also offers sushi and sashimi, shabu-shabu, and sukiyaki options. Sporting dark furnishing and black walls, the sprawling restaurant is divided into sections, where guests can choose to sit around the teppan grill, at the sushi counter, within the shabu-shabu area or in comfortable private rooms for intimacy.
