Go for one of the newest resorts on the island, Villa Lawana, at the northern tip of Chaweng Beach, right on the border of the sweet Bophut. Only five minutes from the airport, it’s a breeze to get to, and once you’re there you will be swept away by the beauty of this property. As it name implies, it’s an all villa property with a choice of villas clustered around a pool or grander villas with their own pool. There’s water, water, everywhere as you also have your own swimming beach and a lovely beachfront swimming pool. The spa is absolutely heavenly with treatments so relaxing that you’ll have to be peeled off the massage bed at the end of them. The hotel has two restaurants—Ocean Kiss and Sky Hugs—the former is right on the beach and is where you have breakfast, while the latter is really quite unique. It’s a tree house restaurant comprising small dining huts on high stilts that reach into the branches of a large tree.
