You just can’t “shake it off”. Like it or not, the only thing people will be talking about during the first two weeks of March (and possibly for much longer) will be Taylor Swift.
The singer-songwriter will be making her only Southeast Asian stop here with six sold-out shows starting from Mar 2.
Ramping up the excitement are a myriad of events and activities in celebration of her career and the Eras Tour, from singalongs and pop-up stores to installations and light shows. Below is a must-do list for all Swifties (Taylor Swift fans).
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Trail
From Feb 28, selected parts of The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands and Sands Expo & Convention Centre will morph into a haven for fans of the popstar. Embark on a visual narrative of the award-winning artist’s journey, where members of the public will be able to live out Taylor Swift’s 10 iconic eras through seven installations.
Each zone will offer a unique glimpse into Taylor Swift’s musical evolution, paying homage to pivotal seasons like the “Lover” era and transporting fans back in time to the nostalgic “1989” era.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Light & Water Show
From Feb 28 to Mar 7, witness the exclusive Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Light & Water Show which will be held daily at 8pm and 9pm, with an additional show at 10pm on Mar 1 and 2.
This 14-minute special rendition reimagines Marina Bay Sands’ Spectra – A Light & Water Show, syncing it to the tunes of four iconic chart-topping songs spanning the popstar’s diverse musical eras – ”You Belong With Me” (Taylor’s version), “Cruel Summer”, “Style” (Taylor’s version), and “Shake It Off’” (Taylor’s version). The show will boast choreography inspired by Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, featuring dancing fountain jets, visual projections, beaming lasers and synchronised lava effects, all harmonised to the upbeat rhythms of the four celebrated songs.
The show is complimentary but fans will have to pre-register via Marina Bay Sands official website due to capacity limitations at the Event Plaza. Pre-registration will commence on Feb 27 at 12pm. Tickets are limited.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Retail Pop-up
From Feb 29, an exclusive retail pop-up offering official concert merchandise will be located at Sands Expo & Convention Centre Hall C. Members of the public must pre-register for their time slot starting Feb 27 at 6pm at Marina Bay Sands official website. Each registration admits only one, and children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Bejeweled singalong session
Jewel Changi Airport will be holding a two-hour Bejeweled event at Shiseido Forest Valley on Mar 1 from 7.30pm. Join fellow fans and sing along to the American pop superstar’s biggest hits from different albums or “eras”, such as “Blank Space”, “Love Story”, “You Belong With Me” and “Bejeweled”.
Led by local singer Joie Tan and local band 53A, this is probably the largest Swifties event in Singapore ever. Each participant will receive a limited-edition friendship bracelet, and an additional pack of beads to create self-styled bracelets. Admission is free, but tickets are required. Registration is closed but we say show up anyway. Although you won’t be able to enter without a ticket, you can still listen in and sing your heart out near the venue.
White Shades Wildest Dreams
White Shades, a four-level “cocktail playground” along Boon Tat Street, has dedicated its rooftop bar to Taylor Swift for the week her tour is in town. From Mar 1 to 10, fans from Singapore and Southeast Asia are invited to belt out her songs while enjoying The French Blonde cocktail – allegedly Taylor Swift’s favourite drink. The drink (also available at Plume, Smoke & Mirrors, Bar at 15 Stamford, La Maison Du Whisky, Sago House and Employees Only) is made with St Germain Elderflower Liqueur and Bombay Sapphire gin.
