Now that we are firmly into Phase 3 (where indoor live performances are able to have up to 250 persons), theatre companies have returned with a slew of plays to entertain audiences in the coming months.
Never mind the social distancing, we are all simply glad they are back.
Pangdemonium is one of them.
The theatre company presents Girls & Boys (Feb 25-Mar 14), a one-woman play starring Nikki Muller. Look forward to a tour de force 90-minute performance of a play that has been described as “very funny” (Broadwayworld.com) on one hand, and “harrowing” (New York Times) and “gut-wrenching” (The Guardian) on the other.
Written by Dennis Kelly (known for his work in Matilda and Pinocchio musicals) and directed by Tracie Pang, the play introduces the unnamed protagonist “Woman” who wants to tell you a story.
That she is strong, confident, funny, yet vulnerable and swears too much. That she is like every woman, and like no other woman.
She shares her story about her home and her life, where she recounts a tale of youthful recklessness, romance, passion, and lust; of falling in love with the man of her dreams, then finding herself happily married and a mother to two beautiful children, with a flourishing and fulfilling career, and a promising future.
It seemed like a perfect life, except it wasn’t.
All we can say is be prepared for an emotional ride, and expect the unexpected.
Girls & Boys runs from Feb 25-Mar14 2021 at Drama Centre Theatre. Tickets are available at pangdemonium.com and SISTIC.
