Phase 3: Important things to know about Singapore’s reopening

It’s finally here. We are now officially in Phase 3 of Singapore’s reopening starting today. Here are seven key things to know about this new normal before you start ushering in the new year.

1. Group size for social gatherings and household visits has been increased from 5 to 8 persons. Time to start calling another three extra friends and family to join in the festivities. 

2. Capacity limits of premises have been increased, with attractions being allowed to expand their operating capacity from 50 per cent to up to 65 per cent. Malls and large standalone stores can now welcome more visitors too.

3. More people can now participate in congregational and other worship services as capacity has increased to up to 250 persons. These services should be conducted in zones of 50 persons each for congregational services.

4. A total of 10 persons for marriage soleminsations and up to 8 visitors are allowed. Visitors exclude members of hosting household, the solemniser and vendors. 

5. Live instrumental music (except for wind instruments) are allowed for some activities.

6. Indoor live performances can have up to 250 persons (in zones of up to 50 each). Outdoor venues under pilot programmes can also have up to 250 persons. 

7. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has been approved by the Health Sciences Authority, and there’ll be free COVID-19 vaccinations for all Singaporeans and long-term residents. Healthcare workers will be the first to get vaccinated from Dec 30.
