alt-J has cancelled tomorrow’s gig at the Esplanade Theatre

Fans in Singapore were excited to catch Mercury award-winning British indie outfit alt-J at the Esplanade tomorrow (Nov 29). They were slated for a one-night performance here, before going on their five-state Australian tour. However, it looks like we won’t be able to watch them live and bask in their impeccable unique blend of electronic bleeps and bloops, indie rock and folk-style songwriting anymore.

They’ve just released a statement on their Facebook page earlier today (Nov 28) that they are “no longer able to play in Singapore” because of a family emergency.

Ticket buyers will be getting a full refund via APACTix, which will be available through the original method of payment. If you bought your tickets using a credit card, the refund will be credited back to the same card you used for the transaction, and will take 14 business days to be processed.

But if you paid by cash or NETS, you are advised to head over to the APACTix office at 2 Stadium Walk, Singapore Indoor Stadium, with your physical tickets and photo ID from Nov 30 to Dec 6 for a cash refund between 10am-8pm on Mondays to Saturdays and 12-8pm on Sundays and Public Holidays.

We hope everything’s alright with them and their family, and have our fingers crossed that they’ll schedule to come back to Singapore another day. More here.
