We’re no New York City—but Singapore’s proving to be just as happening a city in recognizing and embracing its neighborhoods as party districts. Here are the October block parties to head to, in the lead-up to Halloween.
Haji Lane Party: Back To The 90’s 80’s Edition (Oct 14)
With how touristy it’s become, it’s easy to forget that Haji Lane is a pretty swingin’ location. This weekend, the street art-filled district takes it back to the good old days, with a “Back to the 90’s 80’s” street part. From 5pm till late, party with deejays DJ Gravity, DJ Titus and DJ Andrew Chow at Piedra Negra on Haji Lane. It’s free entry for all, and free tequila shots for the first 300 (though you have to register by commenting #FreeTequilaShot on the event page, so it’s probably too late now). Look forward to 90’s R&B, hip hop, and top 80’s for the tunes, plus great promos on Coronas, tequila and margaritas for the booze. The party continues afterwards at Blu Jaz till 3am.
Urban Ventures Street Party Vol. 7 (Oct 21)
Singapore’s most hyped street party is back, and better than ever. The infamous Urban Ventures Street Party returns in its seventh edition to transform Keong Saik Road into a hub of activity, with the theme Self-Expression because, well, when else if not in 2017? From 4-10:30pm, expect a jam-packed day of music, food, market shopping—and even drag queens. Noise Invasion Festival (Oct 28)
Haw Par Villa is probably the last place you’d think of to host a neighborhood block party, but that’s exactly why it’s so perfect. Noise Singapore and Invasion Singapore have come together to produce one heck of a baby, with an inaugural festival celebrating individuality and creativity. There’ll be a killer lineup of music, art, dance and food—but it’s not your regular arts festival. The fest encourages being “weird” and completely deviant from the mainstream (come dressed in costumes and you might win a prize).
