Beer is the everyman’s drink. Whether with a hearty meal or on its own, beer is often the answer. For serious home brewers (and aspiring ones), the annual iBrew Challenge is the place to go to earn some serious cred for your brews.
The competition, now in its 11th year, will be held on Sep 9 just outside of the iBrew store in Clementi. It has a couple of components—the Bottle Competition, The Five Best Kegs, The People’s Choice Best Keg Award and the Best of Show. The first and second component will be judged the week before by a panel of Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) certified judges and industry experts.
But if you’re just down to support the craft by drinking, there’s a free-flow of more than 30 home brews from some of the scene’s most experienced home brewers, including self-proclaimed yeast whisperer, John Wei (we recently spoke to him about his craft), a former home brewer who turned pro under the label “Brewlander”. Throughout the day, you’ll be able to vote for your favorite from the Five Best Kegs to determine the People’s Choice Best Keg Award.
It’s going to be a super chill afternoon of home brews, craft beers from the competition’s sponsors and light bites like crispy roast pork, chicken wings, dry mee siam and more from vendors. Tickets are $50 a pop via EventBrite, or $60 at the door.
