Dempsey Hill is all about vintage cars and cocktails this month

Instead of watching (and hearing) new supercars like Lamborghinis and Maseratis whizz down Orchard Road or oogling at the ones (usually Ferraris) parked outside the Grand Hyatt and Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza for all to see, car lovers will enjoy a different kind of showcase of cars this month. We might be swinging into full gear for the coming F1 Singapore Grand Prix, but take a break from all the octane-fuelled festivities and make your way down to Dempsey Hill over two weekends to take a look at some beautiful vintage cars.

Motoring Heritage Day (Sep 11)

This one day-event will be held near the former army barracks that were built in the 1860s on Dempsey Hill to create a more historical and intimate atmosphere for guests. Celebrating a history of motoring, check out 30 spotless pre-war Vintage and post-war Classic cars and motorcycles from the 1920s, right up to the 1970s. Cars by automotive manufacturers like Bentley, Rolls Royce, Alpha Romeos, Volkswagen and some popular British ones like Austin, Morris and MG, will be out on full display as guests roam around with cocktails and nosh from Dempsey Hill’s surrounding restaurants and bars.

Luxglove Classic Car Weekend (Sep 24-25)

Local online marketplace specializing in high quality pre-loved art, design and other collectible Luxglove is throwing a two-day classic car event two weeks after the Motoring Heritage Day at Asiatique Collections. You can expect a static showcase of 22 classically designed sportscars like the 1961 Ferrari 250 GTE, 1964 Ferrari Dino 264 GT, 1959 Porsche 356A, 1978 BMW M1 and the very rare Lamborghini Diablo. There’ll even be a demonstration of special detailing techniques—like paint correction, chrome polishing, leather feeding and more—performed on one of the cars on site. Other highlights include panel talks by industry experts who’ll give insights about the world of collecting and a market selling beautifully designed objects, furniture from Asiatique, pre-owned timepieces and rare whiskies. Throughout the day, refresh yourselves with food and drinks from food trucks by The Traveling C.O.W., Coffee Bandits and Popaganda.
