The same guys behind bicycle cafe Wheeler’s Yard at Lorong Ampas and weekend brunch haven Wheeler’s Estate at Seletar Aerospace Park are throwing a housewarming party (even though they’ve been opneed since Dec last year) in the form of a two-day outdoor bash filled with music, drinks, food and, of course, bicycles.
Wheeler’s Festival takes place from Jul 29-30, and while you can most definitely drive over (parking is free!), the organizers are encouraging people to come in their human-powered two-wheelers instead. Not only can you test out their bicycle valet service, a first in Singapore, those who do so can also stand a chance to win a penny-farthing high wheeler. It’s not something you’ll likely ride home with, but it’ll sure make a great conversation piece in the living room.
Out on the two-acre green lawn is where most of the action will be taking place. Bring a picnic mat (or buy one there), then bask in the open air with grilled eats and cold beers as musicians the likes of ShiGGa Shay, Jack & Rai, Second Sunrise, as well as residents BYOB and Jumpstart perform live. Music happens between 4-11pm each day, and that is the time you should plan your visit.
Wheeler’s Estate’s cafe, restaurant and bar will operate as usual, so if you’d prefer partaking in the festivities from the comforts of the refurbished colonial bungalow, that’s an option too.
More great news for cycling enthusiasts—they’re also launching a new cycling group, called WY-WE-CYCLE, that organizes regular biking sessions every alternate Saturday from 8am to 12pm, starting Jul 29. It’ll take members on the 33km park connector route between Wheeler’s Yard and Wheeler’s Estate.
