Some of us grew up playing with planes; while others, trains, Barbie dolls, Power Ranger figurines, Polly Pocket and what have you. But whichever toy of fancy yours was, there’s one thing you can’t deny—how fascinating the whole concept of flight is.
With airlines expanding their list of destinations every month (and the opening of Terminal 4), jetsetting off for a holiday has become so much easier. But that’s just one part of aviation. Enter the biennial Singapore Airshow—Asia’s largest aerospace and defence event, which will be taking place from Feb 6-11, 2018 at Changi Exhibition Centre.
Year in and year out, the event will bring in 65 of the top 100 aerospace and defence companies in the world, and has become a crucial platform in the region to help regulators, manufacturers, airlines and other key stakeholders connect, drive change, shape what the future of aviation will look; and basically schmooze.
While it is mainly a trade show, with business forums, summits and conferences happening on the first few days, the fun part happens on the weekend (Feb 10-11) for the public. Look to the skies and catch the jaw-dropping and butt-clenching half-hour aerobatic flying displays scheduled at 11:30am and 2:30pm on both days, or trot around the 100,000 sqm outdoor display area to get real close to commercial aircrafts, fighter planes, private jets and more. If it gets a little too hot, head indoors to the 40,000 sqm space and check out the most cutting-edge aerospace technologies and innovations.
Tickets are already on sale via Sistic at $22, which entitles you to a complimentary two-way shuttle transfer from Singapore Expo. Fun fact: more than 80,000 people attended the last one in 2016, so you might wanna think twice about driving there.
