Running events are still on a roll this month, with more to come in the next half of the year. The first week of May saw The Music Run, Star Wars Run, and the very challenging Spartan Race. But besides competing (with yourself mostly), there are a few that’ll actually contribute to a good cause. Here are some of the remaining ones to check out this month.
Runninghour 2017 (May 13)
Music-centric and party-like runs are great, but nothing is better than running for a cause. This run prides itself as being an inclusive running club for people with special needs. You’ll get to join a 3.5km, 5km or 10km blindfold run, where a partner will lead you along the run and you’ll switch roles every 500m. Blindfolds are not compulsory if you’re uncomfortable. Tickets start from $45.
Where: Bedok Reservoir
Singapore Kindness Run 2017 (May 14)
Organized in collaboration with Singapore Kindness Movement, the namesake running event allows you to compete in a 10km run for $50, or if you’re more athletic, participate in the bundle 10km and 800m package for $75. So where does the kindness comes in? Well, spot ambassadors displaying random kind acts throughout the run (so you can follow them too).
Where: Native Lawn, Pasir Ris Park
Meiji Run 2017 (May 20)
The famed brand known for their snacks and milk products is organizing a run promising a hamper filled with Meiji snacks for those who complete the 5km and 10km routes. Besides the usual 5km and 10km run categories, you can also participate in yoga sessions alone or with a friend. Alongside the run are movie screenings, a photo booth and a Japanese food fair. Tickets are from $35.
Where: Sentosa Island, Palawan Beach
The Great Beer Race (May 20)
Fancy drinking beer and running at the same time? The Great Beer Race, held in partnership with Singapore Pub Crawl, will test your alcohol tolerance, wit and stamina, all in one day. You and your partner are required to solve puzzles and challenges at eight pit stops like Meat N Malts, Blowfish and The Drunken Poet. If you win, you’ll get a private summer party with 20 other friends, a tour at Tiger Brewery and $300 worth of vouchers. Don’t worry, you can drown your sorrows still (if you lose) at an after-party too. To join, you’ll need to spend $50 at any Singapore Pub Crawl’s events or at any of the eight F&B pit stops.
Where: Various venues in Sentosa
PCCW Global Charity Run (May 24)
This annual charity run returns for its fourth year at Gardens by the Bay. Nothing fancy—you’ll only participate in a 5km route, but all proceeds will be donated to Make-A-Wish Foundation Singapore, the non-profit organization that’s been granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
